Les Passagers - CD > The Recording

The story of the mini-album...

Les Passagers had been together for three years. Their first (private) concert took place in November 1999. And from that time, at the end of every concert, people would come up and ask: "Do you have a CD for sale" or "Where can I get your CD", and every time they had to respond: "Its a project that we're planning, we need to actually DO it".

Next?

- Finally, they said to themselves "Stop - we have to do it NOW. The people who hear us want something to remember us by, or something to give as a gift"!

- So we started to look for a place to record it. Lorenzo remembered that he had once met a guy who worked in music and with whom he shared similar musical tastes. More importantly, this guy had a recording studio! So we contacted him (as one of a few leads we were following up)... and found that Russ Speiser actually understood our music! And, no, it's not obvious how to actually record this bizarre mixture of styles and instruments.

- The recording started: sound checks, guitares, percussion, violins, keyboards, voices, and the bass! Quite a few hours of studio time (not to mention sweat and stress time too!) finally resulted in this selection of 4 tracks.

- But that wasn't the end of it. With the tracks mixed and mastered, there remained the significant tasks of creating the case artwork and arranging (and paying for) pressing, before finally being able to profit from what you now have in your CD collection (you haven't yet? Well, soon, then! ;-).

The result of this recording? Meeting and getting to know Russ without whom the CD would not have sounded so good, meeting Martin on bass (he was simply a guest for the CD, but became a full member of the group a couple of months later), and, for all, a great experience!

And now? "When's the next one comming out?"!
